Key Announcements for Oct. 3, 2009

This Sabbath's bulletin is ready for viewing at <http://www.thecollegechurch.com/ann_bul_cal.html>. Several key announcements are below. They are written as if you are reading them Sabbath morning. There will be additional important announcements in Sabbath's bulletin.

Please Note: The sermon title was inadvertently left out of the printed bulletin. The title is "Slaying the Final Dragon." Also, the following announcement was received too late to be included in the print version, but it is in the online version:

THIS AFTERNOON at 1:30 we will be hosting the first "Third Service" or "Alpha Service"—we haven't yet decided what to call it. It will have a decidedly different flavor from Responsa and our traditional 11:00 a.m. service.

PRAYER FOCUS: Health Concerns: Sharon Olejniczak, Michael Hayes (Phyllis Crand's son-in-law), Eugene Hernandez (Denbigh's brother), Rena Romero (Virginia Livermore's step-sister), Suzie Ruiz (Danny Sierra's cousin), Thor Montgomery, Joan Lufkin, Jayne Baccus-Hurley, Neal Peisley (Kathy Grellman's father), Cliff Pope, Amanda Bailey, B.J. Behrens, Peggy Day, Laura Lee Williams.

WELCOME, GUESTS! Today we resume our indoor fellowship dinners with an all-church haystack dinner. The church provides the rice, beans and chips, so bring plenty of your favorite toppings—lettuce, tomatoes, olives, salsa, etc. Next week there is no dinner due to SLA alumni weekend.

COMMUNITY HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING: Today at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel. We need young & old, rich & poor, handicapped & able-bodied to set up teams to coordinate the project. There's a part for everyone who wants to get involved. Please come—we need your energy, ideas & talents. Call Jackie Nosek if you have questions. 978-365-4466 home, 978-660-5342 mobile.

WILLIAM NESS IN RECITAL: The Organ Sings: Tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. with choir and congregation participating. St Joseph's Church, Charlton MA. Music by Bach, Harbach, Ferguson, Reger, Peeters, Langlais, Rachmaninoff, and Vierne.

VERY FEW EPISODES are recorded in all four gospels. In Recalibration this week (Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.) we'll see one of those unique episodes as we peruse Matthew 14:13–25, Mark 6:30–48, Luke 9:12–17 and John 6:1–19.

SLA ALUMNI VESPERS: Join with the alumni of South Lancaster Academy as they return for the annual homecoming weekend. This Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
